School withholds valedictorian's diploma because hell, it can

8/20/2012

Kaitlin Nootbaar is a straight A, 4.0 student who is heading to college on a full scholarship, but the Oklahoma girl won't be taking her high school diploma with her. Prague High School administrators are refusing to give Nootbaar her diploma until she apologizes for saying the word "hell" in her valedictorian speech. Nootbaar paraphrased a scene from one of the "Twilight" movies, saying "how the hell do I know" what career path she wants to take after graduation and, despite finishing her speech to "warm applause," the school says she owes them an apology letter for the swear word. Nootbaar declined, because she doesn't think she did anything wrong (well, other than quoting "Twilight"). Hell yeah, we're on your side, Kaitlin. [Source]
