AutoZone employee fired for using gun to stop robbery
12/6/2012Unfortunately for one heroic AutoZone employee in Virginia, his quick thinking thwarted a robbery, saved his boss's life and cost him his job. David McClean and his boss were closing their store when an armed robber, known as the Fake Beard Bandit, entered and forced the manager to open the retailer's safe. McClean was able to sneak out of the store and retrieve a gun from his truck, which he then used to scare off the robber. As a thank-you for his bravery, AutoZone fired McClean because he says the chain has a "zero-tolerance policy against employees having weapons in the store." No good deed goes unpunished. [Source]
