Dad lets toddler play with gorillas, but waits 20 years to tell anyone

Damian Aspinall might not take home the Best Dad Ever award, but he sure knows how to attract attention. The Brit recently released 20-year-old video footage of his 18-month-old daughter Tansy playing in a gorilla cage at Howletts Wild Animal Park in Kent, England, with — what else? — hulking 300-pound gorillas. The footage is sweet, with one gorilla kissing Tansy, and one carrying her in its arms. But it begs the question: Uh, was that really a great idea? Aspinall thinks so. He says: “If we can show millions of people how gentle and noble and wonderful these animals are, then I think we’re doing the gorillas a service.” Tansy, now 23, agrees, though she doesn’t remember any of her interspecies play dates.
